PawMap (“we”, “us”) provides a mobile app that helps dog owners look up whether venues welcome dogs. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to reach us.

What we collect

• Email address. Used to sign you in via one-time codes and to associate your saved places and reports with your account.
• Saved places and reports. Places you save and reports you submit are stored against your account. Reports submitted for moderation are visible to moderators and, once approved, contribute to the public place data shown in the app.
• Approximate location (optional). If you grant location permission, the app uses your device location to center the map and bias search results. This is used as you go and is not stored on our servers.
• Recorded walks (optional). If you record a walk, PawMap keeps its route, distance and duration. At least 150 metres is removed from the start and end of every walk before it is saved anywhere, so a walk does not show where you live. Walks stay on your phone unless you are signed in; if you are, they are stored on your account so they reach your other devices. Recorded walks are never shown to other users and are never added to any shared or public map. Location is recorded only while a walk is running, and PawMap asks for background location so a walk keeps recording when your phone is locked or PawMap is not on screen. It is never recorded when no walk is running.
• Dog profiles (optional). Any dogs you add — name, and optionally breed, size and date of birth — are stored on your account when you are signed in. Dog photos stay on your phone and are not uploaded.
• Basic request logs. Our API logs standard request metadata (IP, timestamp, endpoint) for security and debugging. These logs are retained for a short period and not used for advertising.

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not run third-party analytics SDKs that track you across other apps.

Third-party services we use

• Supabase — sign-in and account identity.
• Render — hosts the PawMap API. Recorded walks and dog profiles pass through it when you are signed in.
• Neon — hosts the database those walks and dog profiles are stored in.
• Google Places — searching for and enriching venue information. Search queries are sent to Google subject to their API terms.
• Apple / Google maps — rendering the map view on-device. Your position is not sent to us by the map.
• Sentry — crash reporting. Location and route data are stripped from crash reports before they are sent.

Your choices

• Delete your data. From the app, go to Me → Delete my data to permanently remove your saved places, reports, recorded walks and their routes, and dog profiles, and sign out.
• Delete a single walk. Open it under Me → Walks and choose Delete. It is removed from your phone and from your account.
• Get a copy of your data. Contact us and we will send your walks and dog profiles in a portable format.
• Sign out. You can sign out at any time from Me → Sign out. Walks and dog profiles held on your account are removed from the phone when you do; walks you chose to keep on the phone only stay put.
• Location permission. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
